Garlic Toast

I did not invent garlic toast, you can find a lot of ways how to do it on the internet already. I wanted to record my way of doing it for myself and show you how easy it is to make something very nice out of leftover bread. Apart from old pieces of bread you will also need olive oil, 2-3 pods of garlic, some pepper and salt and an oven.

Squeeze the garlic in a press and put in a cup, add 5-10 tablespoons of olive oil, some salt & pepper and stir with a fork. Lay out the old pieces of bread on a baking tray and brush the garlic-olive oil mixture on, mine then look like this : IMG_20140405_182735Bake in oven at 200 deg Celsius for about 20 minutes. It is important to put the oven at a temperature that is not too high. The bits of toast should get crunchy through and through and if your oven temperature is too high, the top will burn while the bottom is still soft. I have a oven-microwave combination and my experience is that it does not get as hot as a normal oven would. So for a regular oven I would go down at least to 180 deg or possibly even lower.
